Are you approaching the senior market with security products that suit their active lifestyle?

This May is Older Americans Month when many are taking the opportunity to recognize the contributions of older Americans. According to the Administration on Aging, people 65+ represented 12.4% of the population in the year 2000, but are expected to grow to be 19% of the population by 2030. As life safety professionals, we have the opportunity to provide safety and comfort to our seniors and their loved ones. Are you asking the right questions to help your customers?
This year’s theme for Older Americans Month is “Never Too Old to Play” and it encourages older Americans to stay engaged and involved. This theme reinforces the fact that seniors of today are different than seniors of yesterday; they are more active and want options that fit their busy lifestyle.  Honeywell’s new sleek personal panic transmitter was designed to fit this market.  A panic transmitter must be intuitive and have cosmetic appeal.  This new product is compact and water-resistant with a variety of multi-wear options, including a wristband, lanyard, keychain, and belt clip. These features are what users have been asking for.
I’m excited about this new product because it’s an excellent addition to home security systems – letting you offer peace of mind with the press of a button. Have you done your part to inform seniors and their loved ones about this valuable product?
