Jim Callahan was named President of Ackerman Security Systems in April of 2012. The 32-year security industry veteran joined the company 14 years ago as Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  He has served as the company’s COO since 2008.

Protecting families for over 40 years, Ackerman Security Systems is committed to supporting the neighborhoods in which we do business. We believe it is really our responsibility and gives our employees a chance to give back at the local level. For the past five years, we have been involved with Habitat for Humanity. The idea came to us from an employee that told us how the organization helped their friend in need. Since that time, we have been involved in 20 Habitat Home builds, involving 100 of our employees.

Recently, we got involved with the Restore organization in our area, a part of Habitat for Humanity. Restore is a resale business that provides building materials and home improvement items donated by local retail businesses, building contractors, suppliers and individuals to the public at 50%-90% below retail prices. Proceeds from the sales of the 15 Restore locations around Northern Virginia are then channeled to Habitat for Humanity to support the building of new Habitat homes.

To help create awareness about this valuable program, Ackerman Security donated approximately $50,000 in airtime for PSA’s to promote the Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia and their Restore business from July through December of 2012. We feel this promotion will greatly increase awareness and result in increased sales at the Restore locations allowing more Habitat homes being built. Take a look at the video below or on our web site to see how this program is helping to restore communities.
