In the Mood for Food? Check Out Our ASIS Picks

Angela Remmert by Angela Remmert | 09.17.2013

If you’re traveling to ASIS, you probably have your travel reservations handled. When you get there, will you know the best places to eat after the show floor closes? In case you need help navigating your way through the 6,000+ restaurant choices, I wanted to use this space for our readers to share their favorites. To get the conversation started, I turned to some Honeywell employees who will be at Honeywell Booth # 1304 for their picks. From great steaks to stuffed pizza, the Honeywell team has some interesting selections.

Dean Mason’s Pick: Heaven on Seven
If you love Cajun food like I do, then you will love Heaven on Seven. Try the location on Michigan Avenue near Rush Street. When you walk in and see the wall of hot sauces, you know they can bring the heat. I prefer the hot stuff like the shrimp voo doo or the angry chicken po boy, but they also have mild dishes for those less daring. Heaven on Seven will put the south in your mouth. Don’t forget the gumbo!

Ken Weinstein, Tony Foglia and Pat French’s Pick: Pizza
Deep-dish pizza has been a staple in Chicago for over 30 years. Honeywell’s Ken Weinstein, Tony Foglia and Pat French agree that you need to sample this dish before you leave the show. Pat French shares his pick for the best location:

Before taking the short trip to Nancy’s Pizza in Elmhurst (940 N. York Road, Elmhurst, IL – their second location), I would suggest calling ahead to order the Stuffed Pizza. It takes awhile to bake this monster. Two slices and I am stuffed like the pizza. There may be other locations closer, but this is the one I visited over 30 years ago and they are still going strong.

Dave Combes’ Pick: Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse
When I am in Chicago, I like to visit Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in downtown Chicago. If you go, treat yourself to a Prime steak that arrives sizzling on a 500° plate. It will be a dining experience you won’t forget.
