One of the most popular destinations in the Southeast to live and work, Atlanta is filled with great shopping, dining and attractions. This week, it’s also filled with security professionals attending ASIS 2014. If you’re in town for this event, we thought you might be looking for some great places to eat when you step away from the show floor. I asked Jim Callahan, President of Ackerman Security Systems, based in Atlanta, GA for his favorites. Below are just a few of his recommendations. And if you’re looking for a list that breaks down selections by cuisine, click here.

With thousands of restaurants in Atlanta, where will you visit during ASIS?

Take a Spin at Polaris
This iconic blue, flying saucer-looking restaurant reopened in June after almost a decade. A legendary rotating restaurant and lounge, it sits atop the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta. Take a ride 22 stories up in the hotel’s glass elevators and you will walk into a breathtaking space that features incredible panoramic views of the city.

Great Barbecue at Smoke Ring
Opened late last year, Smoke Ring offers a unique take on typical barbecue dishes. You can enjoy an authentic creation of Georgia-style barbeque while overlooking the Georgia Dome and Philips Arena.

 St. Cecilia
If you’re in the mood for simple dishes inspired by the coastlines of Italy, Spain and France, St. Cecilia has so many options. Seafood and pasta lovers will be especially delighted by this unique choice.
